White-tailed eagle in Lofoten: a fine art wildlife print
A white-tailed eagle (sea eagle) drops to the surface and takes a fish with its talons. The wings are fully spread, the plumage glows golden brown, and the cold blue-grey water breaks around the strike.
I photographed this scene in February from a fishing boat that left Svolvær in the Lofoten islands, on the way to Trollfjord. Shooting from a moving boat on open water asks for a fast shutter, steady hands and good timing, because the eagle gives you only a second.
