Frozen waterfall with green and gold ice formations cascading over rock, winter landscape wall art

A frozen waterfall in the Trollfjord, seen from the water in the afternoon light.

Shot in the Trollfjord in the afternoon, from an old fishing boat working its way through the fjord. This waterfall had frozen mid-fall — the water still visibly moving in places, caught between liquid and ice, with the surrounding rock streaked in shades of ice-blue and rust from mineral deposits in the stone.

Seeing it from the water rather than from land changes the scale entirely — the fjord walls rise straight up on either side, and the frozen falls are just one detail in a landscape built for drama. No composite, no added color: what you see is what the winter light and the ice did on their own that afternoon.

A striking choice for a winter landscape print where you want texture and contrast to carry the room — a study, office, or anywhere a large-format piece can be read up close. Pairs naturally with other Lofoten and Nordic landscape work for a cohesive series on one wall.

WHERE IT WORKS

The cool greens and blues of the ice against warm, rust-coloured rock give this print more colour than the typical winter scene, without ever feeling loud. It suits a bedroom or living room with a calm, natural palette, and it works just as well in an office, a study or a hotel corridor, where people stand close and look properly. Light wood, linen, stone and soft grey walls all bring out the cool tones.

LOOK CLOSER

This is a photo that rewards size. At large formats, you can follow individual icicles, the places where the water is still moving, and the mineral streaks running through the rock. From across the room it reads as a calm, vertical pattern. Up close it turns into texture.

GOOD TO KNOW

Is the colour edited?

No. There is no composite and no added colour. The greens, golds and rust are what the ice and the rock looked like in the afternoon light.

Which room suits this print best?

Bedrooms, living rooms and offices with a calm, natural palette. The cool tones work especially well next to wood and stone.

How large should I go?

Large formats show the ice texture best. As a rule of thumb, aim for about two-thirds of the width of the furniture below it.

Can I see the print in my room before ordering?

Yes. The Labkorner configurator shows the print on a wall, so you can check size and material first.
